Letter from the President

Dear Brothers, Pledges, Prospective Members, Alumni, Parents, Friends, and other visitors,

Welcome to the Kappa Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Phi!

My name is Nick Onopa and I am excited to serve as our chapter's president for 2012. Within the past year we have won our second consecutive Virginia Tech Fraternity Chapter of the Year, our fourth Pyramid of Excellence - the highest honor from our National Headquarters - collected 464 units of blood in our annual philanthropy, See-Saw for Life, and raised over $13,000 for the American Red Cross. 2011 has been good to us but the awards and numbers only come because this group of men refuses to be "just another fraternity." We live our values of Culture, Harmony, and Friendship by consistently being one of the few chapters to have a GPA above the Virginia Tech all-campus average, by participating in athletic, philanthropic, community service, and social events, and by creating bonds of brotherhood that will last a lifetime.

If you, or your son, are interested in joining our organization, I can promise you this: nowhere else at Virginia Tech will you find a collection of high caliber men that are devoted to creating a college experience that is fun, safe, and will prepare you for the leadership challenges you will face in the future. Over 75% of our current brothers are actively involved in other student organizations at Virginia Tech, while 42% have taken leadership roles within everything from Student Alumni Associates, Orientation Leaders, and Residential Advisors to Wakeboarding Club, Hokies-on-Fire, and the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. Many of their experiences began and continue to come back to their membership in Delta Sig.

As the first national fraternity to admit both Christian and Jewish men, our chapter'™s diversity in all aspects of life is what sets us apart from all other chapters at Virginia Tech. We seek out gentlemen of the highest character who look to be surrounded by individuals that will motivate, support, and challenge them to become a better son, brother, future husband and father, and friend. Our chapter has bought in to our national vision to become America's Leading Fraternity by first defining what it means to be the leading Fraternity at Virginia Tech. It all starts with a refusal to be a "typical" college student and to instead become the better men and the better leaders that the world needs.

Proud to be a Delta Sig!
