Homecoming

One of the greatest traditions at Virginia Tech is Homecoming.  During the fall semester, a large fraternity is paired up with a sorority, smaller fraternity and UCFS organization a series of week-long events and activities.  The Greek community participates in blood drives, canned food drives, speaker events, concerts, spirit rallies, and the homecoming parade.  Each team is awarded points during the different events with the winners announced at the end of homecoming.  Homecoming is a great opportunity to create relationships with not only fellow members of the Greek Community, but also giving back to the campus of Virginia Tech and the town of Blacksburg.
Greek Week
In the spring semester, the Greek Community participates in a week-long event called Greek Week.  Greek Week was established as a means of promoting the positive aspects of the Virginia Tech Fraternity and Sorority Life organizations. Similar to Homecoming, sororities and fraternities team up to raise thousands of dollars annually to support various philanthropic endeavors, such as Relay for Life. Through the week’s events and activities the Greek community helps build a sense of unity and spirit among the university.

Formals/Semi-Formals

During the fall and spring semesters, Delta Sigma Phi holds their Semi-Formals (Fall) and Formals (Spring) to celebrate their chapter achievements over the year.  Semi-Formals are usually held at a local location, while Formals is a weekend trip to a designated location.   Semi-Formals one of longest traditions, a themed date function called Sailor’s Ball, with a formal dinner the next evening.  Formals have been held in the cabins of Gatlinburg in Tennessee, Smith Mountain Lake, and others.  It is easily one of the best weekends of the college year.

Socials

Delta Sigma Phi prides itself on having a great social scene, especially with sororities.  Throughout the semester, Delta Sig hosts weekly themed socials or mixers with sororities to provide an opportunity to create relationships and friendships for years to come.  Socials are a great way to improve relations with different Greek organizations on campus.
